There are two kinds of termite control methods i.e. liquid insecticides and termite baits. Liquids are used to create a long-lasting barrier that stops termites from entering buildings. The most popular liquid insecticide is Termidor.
Meanwhile, termite baits are made of paper, cardboard and a substance that is lethal for termites. Termite baits are placed below ground or in plastic stations. Some can be placed inside full mud tunnels. Termites eat the bait and share it with other termites in their nest. Using baiting for termite management can be complicated that’s why it is recommended to seek the help of termite professionals when installing termite baits or using termidor.
Short answer is NO. Getting rid of termites requires a set of special skills coupled with years of experience in the pest control field. A professional pest controller will identify the critical parts of your home and take care of all hidden entry points. Professional pest exterminators know how to implement the right termite protection for your property to prevent a termite infestation from happening again.
Mud tubes have a diameter similar in size to a pencil. Termites use the tubes as tunnels that protect them while traveling from their colony to your home. Wood that was damaged by termites is usually hollow and has tiny bits of dried mud and soil on them. You can inspect these tunnels to check for termite presence. Even if the tunnels appear empty, they still suggest termite presence.
