What to do when ants invade your home? Here are the first steps that you need to take:
- Locate their nest. If ants have started invading your home, the first step you need to take is to determine exactly what type of ant you are dealing with and the location of their nesting place. If you are dealing with a typical sugar ant then you don't have to panic about them causing any damage to the wood structure of your home. You simply need to locate their nest and establish a solid game plan for how you are going to wipe them out.
- Look for scouting ants. A good way to find the place where the nest is located is to keep an eye out for any scouting ants. These are the lone rangers that are being sent from the colony to find any food and other stuff that can be used to build their colony. See where this little guy goes and what he does, maybe even try throwing him a small crumb so he can head back to the camp and this way leading you right to their nest.
- Set up ant bait traps. Once you have managed to discover the location of the nest, it's time to set up some bait traps that will help you get rid of the pests once and for all. These bait traps have pesticides that can kills ants.
- For a safer and eco-friendly way of removing ants, you can always rely on the masters of pest control. We recommend that you ask one of our pest exterminators to help you with your ant problem. We provide safe and environmentally friendly pest control solutions.
Decide what method to use to get rid of ants
Once you have managed to discover their kingdom, it is time to decide upon which method is going to do the trick in your situation. The most popular method is using gel or liquid ant baits that you set up around the perimeter of your home. What happens is that the ants come out and feed on these baits and then take them back to the colony where the rest of the ants also feed on them. Your main target for killing should be the queen ant. She is the one responsible for making more ants and killing her will cease the growth of the colony. Once that has been done, all that will be left to do is let the rest of the worker ants eat the bait. Within a matter of days the ants will all be dead and you should have taken care of your ant infestation. Usually the queen is located deep down within the colony however it will be easy for you to spot her as her size is much bigger than the other ants. If you come across her, eliminate her immediately in order to ensure the colony won't double in size.
