Facts about bird mites
Birds can carry bacteria and parasites that may cause diseases to human. One of the most common parasites carried by birds is bird mites, also know as starling mites. The adult bird mite has a small and oval shaped body with eight legs (larval stage of bird mite has six legs), has a pale body colour and is semitransparent with a sparse covering of short hair. They can also sometimes appear in red or brown colour which depends on the time passed since their last blood meal. It is very difficult to see one bird mites by naked eyes. These mites usually associate with the common birds around you uch as pigeons, sparrow, and starling.

Bird mites can live up to 3 months if they have a host, otherwise, they only can survive no longer than a few weeks without a host.
